February, 2011- I shopped at three stores (Safeway, Rite Aid, and Target) and came back with all you see pictured. This is what I meant by being able to get healthy food (ignore the Pringles) with coupons. Besides the 2 gallons of milk, there are 3 jars of Skippy Natural peanut butter - free of hydrogenated oils, thank you very much - 3 Healthy Choice pumpkin and butternut squash raviolis, and Traditional Medicinals Throat Coat tea. That spray bottle is Seventh Generation all purpose cleaner, so you can afford to get "healthy" stuff for your home, too.
The total amount I spent, including tax, was $10.13!!! And that includes the tower of Friskies cat food (there are 30 cans in all). Considering it costs about $10 to see a movie in the theatre, I'd say this was a awesome haul.

Put a photo of something here.
Cover Girl nail polish I found on clearance at Target. Clearance price was .97, so when I paired it with my $1 off coupon, it was free. One of the most exciting things I learned when I began to seriously coupon was that most stores will allow you to use a manufacturer's coupon on clearance items. What about the .03 difference? Well, some stores will allow "overage" where you get the full value of the coupon applied to your total to go toward other items. At Target, they will adjust the amount of the coupon down to match the price of the item you are purchasing. Some cashiers are unfamiliar with this policy, so you may need to refer them to the Target coupon policy.
LOOK BEFORE YOU GRAB! Often manufacturers will place coupons directly on their products. When you're making your purchase, be sure to scan the various items of the product you want to see if one of them has a coupon attached to it, like the bottle of Tide pictured here. On the flip side of this tag there were 2 coupons (one for $2.50 off any C9 sport item and one for $1 off any Tide Febreeze sport). Remember, you don't have to use these coupons at the same time that you purchase the item they're attached to. These will usually have a much longer expiration date, so SAVE them until the item they're advertising goes on sale and double your savings!
